한페이지독서 - 전혜린, 그리고 아무말도 하지 않았다

한 권의 책에는 적어도 한 줄 이상의 보석 같은 문장이 있고, 또한 글쓴이의 사유의 정수를 보여주는 한 페이지의 글이 있다 라는 게 제가 책에 대해 가진 믿음이에요.
그 한 줄과 한 페이지에 대한 선택은 지극히 개인적일 수밖에 없고, 그 개인적인 선택 역시 시간의 흐름에 따라 바뀌게 마련이지만, 여전히 한 권의 책이라는 강가에는 자신만의 아름다운 조약돌이 있고, 자신만의 쉴 자리가 있다고 생각합니다.

우리는 이 책에서 젊은 문학도가 지닌 자유와 행복에 대한 치열한 희구, 쉽게 답을 주지 않는 세상 앞에서의 절망감과, 사람 속에 본능으로 주어진 사랑에 대한 사유의 흔적을 읽을 수 있습니다.
그녀는 서른한 살의 나이에 세상을 떠났구요.
그녀가 삶을 이어갔다면 더 많은 이야기를 들을 수 있었겠죠?

오늘은 삼십 년이 훌쩍 넘어서 다시 펴든 그녀의 책에서 바로 오늘 제가 고른 한 페이지를 읽어보겠습니다.

[One page read - Jeon Hye-rin, and said nothing]

 

It's my belief that a book has at least one jewel-like sentence, and also a page-by-page article that shows the essence of a writer's reason.
The choices for those lines and pages can only be extremely personal, and that personal choice can change over time, but I still think there is a beautiful pebble of one's own on the river, and there's a place to rest.

In this book, we can read the intense jubilation of freedom and happiness by young literati, the despair in front of a world that doesn't easily answer, and the traces of love given by instinct in a person.
She passed away at the age of thirty.
If she had continued her life, would she have heard more?

Today we're going to read a page that I picked today in her book, which is just over 30 years old.
